The research and the reinvestigation of history provided within this website is designed to offer an analysis of the colonial/imperial conspiracy which led up to and ultimately followed the “overthrow” under the Oligarchy[9] of the Republic of Hawaii, and the continued complicity by the white oligarchs within the Territory, and State of Hawaii. This treachery resulted in the loss of Kānaka Maoli cultural rights, displacement from their lands, threatened their well-being, and ultimately their right to self-determination. Focus of this work will look at three specific areas that have been hidden from history: how Kānaka Maoli lost their lands and their rights; the racialization and Americanization of Hawaii, and the motivating factors that sparked resistance.
